Look at the whole setup
OSHA recommends considering your monitor together with your chair, desk, and keyboard. Place your main screen in front of you, with the top around or below eye level, and choose a distance at which you can read without leaning forward.
Check the light
Notice reflections at the times you actually work. Adjusting the screen in relation to a window, or changing its angle, may help with glare. Increase text size if you are moving closer simply to read.
A quick practical check
- Open a document you use every day.
- Check whether you can read it while sitting comfortably.
- Try a small text-size adjustment before moving everything.
- Look away from the screen periodically and vary tasks where possible.
Change one thing at a time so you can tell which adjustment is useful. Specialized lenses or persistent symptoms may require individual advice.
